March Meeting Notes

Sunday 11th March we met at Les’ shop and had a very full house. Several visitors from the woodworking school joined us. Rod showed us the carbide tools that he made and gave some explanation for anyone wanting to venture into making their own.

Larry is leaving and moving to Cape Cod and brought an abundance of turning wood for our raffle. We took in $71 which might be the largest take that I’ve seen yet. Thank you Larry.

Our demonstration was Russ turning a winged bowl from three year cured apple wood limb, start to finish. This project was so intensive that we had an intermission. Following the turning, Russ showed us his three stage buffing technique, which yeilded a very fine finish.

We then shared some “show and tell” time, and a big thank you to Roger for the snacks he made to share.
