 The purpose of this email is to keep you up-to-date about important chapter-AAW initiatives and offer you useful woodturning content that can be shared with your members. We encourage you to share this information as appropriate with your chapter members at chapter meetings, on your website, in your newsletter, and on social media.

 $20 INTRODUCTORY MEMBERSHIP
The AAW has an exciting new membership promotion for first-time AAW members, which began in December 2017. Below is a summary of the details.
- FOR JUST $20, individuals may sign up for a three-month introductory AAW membership that includes a mailed issue of American Woodturnerjournal.
When the introductory three-month membership period ends, individuals may renew by upgrading to a full general AAW membership for just $40.
- Only individuals who have NEVER been AAW members are eligible for the introductory three-month membership offer.
- The introductory three-month membership offer is available to individuals ONE TIME ONLY.
Each introductory three-month AAW membership includes the benefits of AAW membership for three full months, including one printed copy of the American Woodturner journal, and access for three months to Woodturning FUNdamentals, AAW EXPLORE!

Symposium Registration Discount – Deadline February 28
The AAW ‘s 2018 AAW Symposium registration discount offer extends a SAVINGS OF $25 per symposium member registration (or a savings of $250 minimum per chapter group). Additionally, chapters that elect to participate will receive one complimentary RESERVED TABLE at the Saturday evening dinner (dinner tickets not included). Chapter members must be registered as part of their chapter group to receive the discount.
2018 AAW Symposium Videographers
The AAW seeks videographers for its 32nd International Symposium in Portland, Oregon, June 14-17, 2018. Applicants must have experience with video camera equipment, possess technical competence, and be able to make decisions regarding lighting, shooting angle, etc. The application process will be open through January 15, 2018. Videographers are required to do six rotations to receive a free Symposium registration. Selected videographers will be notified by March 2018.

Submit an application for an opportunity to display your work at AAW’s annual member exhibition. Two artist awards will be given during the 2018 AAW International Symposium: Masters’ Choice Award of $300 and People’s Choice Award of $200. Entry fee: $25. Entries will be accepted online through February 15, 2018.

We invite you to share AAW’s new Total Experience video tip with your chapter members at an upcoming meeting. Each new video in the Total Experience series includes a brief AAW message and a useful woodturning tip. This month’s tip is about SHARPENING STEEL VS. PARTICLE METAL TOOLS, featuring Tom Wirsing (TRT 5:25).
 To effectively share the video with chapter members, you’ll need a bit of technology at your meeting site.
